Growing like a weed already, this little one changed so much in just two weeks. During the first photo session, she slept through most of it so I came back two weeks later to find her alert, curious, and more aware of her environment. May's older brother, Truman, is now 18 months and I have been photographing him since he was 10 days old. Tomorrow I am spending time with Truman at a park if the rain will finally disappear, and I can't wait to see how much he has changed.
Being the photographer in my family, I am hardly ever in any photos. So it was a treat to have Stacey Potter make some beautiful photos of my expanding family. I knew down the road I would regret not documenting my 2nd pregnancy. At 36 weeks pregnant, we met in downtown Boulder hoping the rain would not stop the session. We lucked out.
In July, I am going to document Stacey's pregnancy as well. Looking forward to it and I am already dreaming up how to photograph her and her family.
I believe every mom should be spoiled and have their family professionally photographed to create heirloom images to be passed down from one generation to the next. Before the economy took a huge dive, we planned a trip to Todos Santos in Baja with two other families. Six adults and four toddlers loaded up and ventured south for some time at the beach. Vacations are a little different with kids. Not as much time at the beach reading, but I was able to finish one book. 
Every Sunday morning in my pjs, I pick up my Sunday New York Times in my driveway. Hot tea in my favorite blue mug, I sit down find the Style section and read the Modern Love column. This past Sunday's was a teary one, a wonderful story about marriage, love, friendship, and commitment.

In January, I photographed a feature story on autism for Mothering which is on news stands now. The article focuses on the cost of autism to families when health insurance and the federal government won't cover the treatments needed.
Three months old and she already works it for the camera. The furrowed brow, little smiles, and small pouts were a few of the expression she showcased during her first photo session.
This is the first of many 2009 posts. Over the holidays, I took a little break from the blog to spend time with my family and take some photos of my little two year old. Keep checking back to see more new work during the next few weeks. 
Reflecting on the past 365 days, I am amazed at all that happened. My daughter, Maddie, was just walking at the start of 2008 and now she runs circles around me while singing happy birthday to her babies. After living in Colorado for five years, I finally made it to a Red Rocks concert to see My Morning Jacket. I traveled to Costa Rica, Santa Fe, Alaska, New Hampshire, Ohio, and West Virginia. On my birthday, I had knee surgery which was really the worse birthday present ever. And I am still recovering from it. Spent Thanksgiving with my husband and Maddie skiing at Wolf Creek. I had hoped to get her on skis but she was content doing puzzles and eating dried blueberries in the lodge. Not even the promise of a lollipop could entice this two year old onto the slopes. Christmas was celebrated with my mom and brother who are so loved by Maddie. Uncle Jamie is always a favorite due to his willingness to be transformed in a horse at any given moment. New Year's Eve was quiet at our house but the food, lobster risotto with beef tenderloin and an avocado tomato salad, was delicious. Rang in the New Year with our neighbors playing Wii.
